A quick introduction of Nara

Let me tell you about my home Nara. (researched 06, Jul 2013)

Nowadays, a word of Nara has two meanings.

1, Nara prefecture, the one of 47 prefectures. There are 47 prefectures in Japan.

2, Nara city, the capital city of Nara prefecture. The Nara park, Todaiji Temple, Yakushiji Temple and the site of Heijyokyo Palace are in Nara city.

Today, Nara prefecture can be divided in to two areas.

1, the North area (mainly Nara city), Nara park, Todaiji Temple, Kofukuji Temple, Yakushiji Temple, the site of Heijyokyo Palece and lots more are in the North area. The Heijyokyo Palace was the capital of Japan in the Nara era (710~784)

2, the South area, it is relatively larger than the North area, and it`s more unpopulated as well as mountainous. The Kumano ko do, (World heritage site), Asuka village (the ancient capital of Japan the end of AD6~the beginning of AD7) and many more are in the South area.

You can discover many historical finds across Nara prefecture

In fact, the modern Nara is far from the edge, doesn't have big presences as long before,

while it is still attractive for the tourists.

Farther more, the modern Nara may be ordinal but you can see standard life of Japan.
